Nanxun Water Town

Nanxun Ancient Town is located in Nanxun District, Huzhou City. It is situated at the junction of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was a famous silk town in southern China, featuring abundant cultural resources and a blend of Chinese and Western architecture. The area of the Nanxun Ancient Town scenic spot is 34.27 square kilometers. The protection scope of the ancient town starts from the east side of Yiyuan Ruins, the west side of Yong'an Street, the south side starting from Jiaoye Pavilion and Xiaolian Villa, and the north side ending at Baizhian Tower. The protected area covers an area of 168 hectares, with a key protected area of 88 hectares. The tourist area is divided into three main sections. The first section is the densely populated area of Nanxun tourist attractions, where sites such as Zhang Shiming's Former Residence and Liu's Stepped House are located. The second section is the central scenic area consisting of Xiaolian Villa, Jiaoye Pavilion, and Wen Yuan etc. The third section is the northeastern block, mainly consisting of Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence and Baizhian Tower, located east of Dong Street. Nanxun Ancient Town is known as the "Cultural Kingdom" and the "Land of Literature and Learning". It has produced many famous figures, such as Zhang Jingjiang, an extraordinary figure of the Republic of China, Zhang Shiming, one of the founders of the "Xiling Seal Society", and famous poet and essayist Xu Ce etc. In June 2001, the old residences of the Zhang family were rated as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In 2005, Nanxun Ancient Town was awarded the title of the second batch of Chinese Historical and Cultural Famous Towns. In July 2015, it was awarded the titles of National 5A-level Tourist Attraction and others, becoming the first national 5A-level tourist attraction in Huzhou City.
