Yazhou Pottery
Yazhou Pottery, originating from Yazhou Town in Pingtang County, Guizhou Province, China, is a traditional ceramic art form with a history spanning over 600 years. Established during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Yazhou Pottery is renowned for its natural and unadorned designs, featuring simple and elegant lines with harmonious and subtle colors. The pottery includes a variety of items such as daily utensils, decorative pieces, animal figurines, and ritual vessels. The unique local clay, characterized by its gray-yellow and sticky texture, contributes to the distinctive quality of Yazhou Pottery. In 2008, the traditional crafting techniques of Yazhou Pottery were recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage of China.
